Ibec welcomes new President, Paraic Curtis
Yesterday was a big day at Ibec.
We have a new President. Paraic Curtis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of TE Medical has taken over the role from Edel Creely, MD of Trilogy Technologies.
It is a real privilege to have someone with such impressive credentials in the position. Paraic has been at the very centre of Ireland’s journey to becoming one of the top med-tech hubs in the world. He currently leads TE Medical, headquartered in Galway, and oversees 15 factories and design centres globally.
In his keynote speech to the Ibec President’s Dinner at the RDS last night, Paraic set out key steps needed for the country to reach its full potential, and pin pointed specific measures needed in next month’s budget - points taken up later by Minister for Finance, Expenditure and Public Reform Paschal Donohoe in his subsequent address.
Last night’s dinner also marked the 25th anniversary of Ibec. With over 1,000 in attendance, it was a night to celebrate not only the success of Irish business over that period but also of the organisation. In addition to members, we were also honoured to have present multiple generations of the Ibec family and friends who have made an important contribution over these years; past Ibec Presidents, Director Generals, staff, former Taoisigh and Government ministers.
The anniversary is a chance to look back at how far we have come and the significant economic regeneration business has brought about. While there have been ups and downs, business has succeeded in delivering employment opportunities and living standard unimaginable just 25 years ago. We now have an incredible platform on which to build and we have every right to be ambitious for the next 25.
Ibec is your organisation and we’re here to represent your interests. We look forward to doing so for many years to come.
Have a good weekend.
