Executive director team
The executive director team, led by Ibec CEO Danny McCoy is responsible for the development and implementation of Ibec's strategic implementation plan.

Danny McCoy is Chief Executive Officer of Ibec, a post he assumed in July 2009. Prior to joining Ibec he was a senior economist at both the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and the Central Bank of Ireland. He has held lecturing posts at Dublin City University, University College London, University of Oxford and Trinity College Dublin. He has been a consultant for the European Commission and the OECD. He is a member of the Irish National Competitiveness Council, the National Economic and Social Council and the Export Trade Council.

Liam O'Donoghue is Deputy CEO/COO at Ibec. He joined Ibec in July 2011 having most recently been Chief Operations Officer for Byrne Wallace Solicitors, a position he held for 5 years, prior to which he was Finance Director. Prior to joining Byrne Wallace, Liam was Director of Operations (EMEA) with Software Spectrum and he has also previously held senior positions in Ireland and overseas with Honeywell International and Borden Inc.

Fergal O'Brien is Ibec’s Director of Policy and Chief Economist. He joined Ibec in 2005. Prior to this Fergal worked for 5 years as an Economic Consultant with Fitzpatrick Associates, where he delivered a large number of consultancy assignments for a range of public and private sector clients. He also worked as an economist with the Irish Dairy Board. He is a member of the National Statistics Board and a council member of the Foundation for Fiscal Studies. Fergal is a regular commentator on the economy and domestic and international policy issues.

Maeve is Ibec's Director of Employer Relations having worked with Ibec since 2000 holding senior positions delivering industrial relations and human resource services to members . Over the course of her career in Ibec Maeve has held the position of Director of the North East Region and more recently the position of Head of IR/HR. Prior to joining Ibec Maeve worked with the World Bank in Washington D.C.

Sharon is Ibec's Director of Member Services overseeing the work of the 37 trade associations and also had responsibility for member engagement, sales and marketing and corporate events.
Sharon joined Ibec in 1996. Over the course of her career Sharon has held a number of senior positions including Assistant Director of Pharmachemical Ireland, Director of the Irish Medical Devices Association and Ibec Head of Sectors. Prior to joining Ibec Sharon worked with Elan Pharmaceuticals for a number of years in a technical role.
